If you're just looking to record, a load box and digital cab IRs (plug ins) are the best option, by far, IMO. I've been recording with a Fryette Power Station and Two Notes Wall of Sound, and I doubt anyone would be able to tell it's not a mic'd cabinet setup. Digital cab IR's have surpassed any sort of hardware like the Mesa cab clone or the Redbox. Those units are dinosaurs compared to modern cab IR plugins. The sound quality is on a different level.
I'd recommend the following:
Suhr reactive load or Fryette Power Load (nod to the Suhr)
Two Notes Wall of sound (cab IR plugin)
If you want to play with some live sound in the room as well:
Two Notes Torpedo Reload
Two Notes Wall of Sound
Or UA Ox

Suhr reactive load, two notes, UA Ox are your best bet. Can record silently.
I have a suhr RL and did a quick recording of my RV50 here if you wanted to hear what it’s like:

went with the cab clone because it was available and on sale for really cheap (return/open box). it's an 8ohm...which means I can't use it on my AC30, but hey it will work here. the sad part... when I grabbed the head from my parents place I forgot a speaker cable and power lead.... doh!
