Moving to Canada and Amp Question...

Post by Wendigo » Tue May 01, 2018 10:09 pm

So We're finally moving back to Canada from Germany in 7 weeks, and I'm going to be bring my Yamaha and my Dual Dark on the plane. I bought bomb-proof cases from "Thon" which are the big brand over here for studio and live cases. My question is, should I leave the tubes in the sockets with bubble-wrap around them, or remove them and ship them separately? Here's some pics of the cases....all 7-ply birch and aluminum edges, with steel balls on the corners....should they be ok?

If the tubes are securely held in place with tube retainers, I'm not sure whether removing them is beneficial or not. If you're thinking about it, well then I would pull them and wrap them securely with packing and take them separately. Like stuffed into your socks!

See if you can pay a little extra for hand loading....

I always felt they were better left in the sockets.

Orange ship them across the world in less sturdy boxes with the valves fitted in.

I know it - I was thinking the same thing. Personally, I don't think I would remove tubes but....

Thanks for the replies. I'll just leave them in I guess and put some wrapping around each one somehow.
