Amp Mod

I recently saw an add locally for an Orange AD30 and the guy said that it was modified with some simple tweaks to be 60 watts. I am not an amp tech, and pardon my novice knowledge. But this cannot be done without some sort of major changes like maybe different transformers etc. I really think this guy was lying and just trying to draw more attention to sell his amp faster and make someone think they were getting something special.

Sure sounds that way. I'd be wary of any modification that tried to make that amp more wattage. (For the record, that 30 watts is amazingly loud!)

The preamp doesn't need modding, but the power amp section would.

New output transformer, perhaps a different power transformer. New power valves sockets, and a number of mods in terms of resistors and capacitors to the power section.

I'm not sure the AD30 PCB could take such modifications, so it my require some creative wiring soldering.

Essentially..... just steer clear, and if you really need 60w or around, try to look for an AD50. Otherwise, as mwntu8ned by bclaire, the AD30 is deafening already.
60w instead of 30w isn't that much louder either actually.
