Dual Dark 100 Questions
I am new to Orange. I have been watching alot of videos on the Dual Dark 100. Will this amp cut it for hard rock and metal? If you dial down the gain is using a distortion pedal possible?
Re: Dual Dark 100 Questions
Never played it, but video demos suggest it should.

Ditto, never played it, but hard rock and metal is the niche it aims at.
As to what OD / Distortion will work with, it'll be trial and error.

Re: Dual Dark 100 Questions
Owned this amp for quite a while before selling it.
Depends on your needs/uses. The amp is fantastic with punchy low end. I had pretty good luck with the following uses:
Metal: channel B for gain, channel a for clean
Classic rock: channel A for gain, Channel B for clean
No cleans needed: rhythm gain channel A, lead gain channel B
It is quite flexible.
It works particularly well in a single guitar band. In a 2 guitar band, it can lack some cut depending on the amp the other player is using.
Also, I would suggest the DD50. I had the DD100 and the low end was tough to dial out. The DD50 uses a smaller transformer so the low end isn’t as woofy.
I only sold it because I got a rockerverb.

Re: Dual Dark 100 Questions
Thanks for the input.
I have found a used mint dual dark 100. I am seriously considering it.
