I'd like to hear it with a guitar though.

When I think I don't often get to turn my AD15 past the 1/2 way point...

What Orange needs to make, I'm thinking a Rocker 30 combo and head with the following features:

Clean channel: add a tone knob and a gain knob.

Dirty channel: leave it as is.

Features: add an fx loop and reverb. How about a modern and vintage tone stack switch.

Cosmetics: Orange head shell and combo cab (no lunch box metal enclosure)

This covers everything!

So, basically a cathode biased Thunderverb 50?

Yes! No! I don't know....I'm not a big fan of my TV50 tone its too muddy without a treble boost pedal, I've never played an R30 but have played the R32 which I liked very much. The list of features above are what I'd want in an amp but with Rocker or OR tone, the feature set of all Orange amps miss the mark for me, the TV50 is the only amp they almost got the features right (except for the shape knob) but the tone is not right. It would be interesting to compare the circuit of the TV say with the Rocker or OR and see what the differences are and tweak my TV to Rocker or OR specs to fix the tone.

The Thunderverb is close to a Rocker in preamp circuit layout. Different values of caps.

Yeah but the Rocker probably doesn't sound like a muddy SOB!

It most certainly does not.

You've had your TV50 for a while, haven't You? Have you changed its power valve's recently? A fresh pair of EL34 might do wonders for muddiness.

I've had it for a few years, its always been muddy, I thought I'd be able to fix it with tubes, speakers, pickups, pedals, I was successful with a treble boost but it still bugs me its so muddy without the pedal. So yes I have tried several different valves and speakers to no avail. Every video online sounds great, I suspect my amp has an issue but I never got around to getting it to a tech, the pedal Band-Aid has been working good enough but lately I've been thinking about it again that I need to invest in the tech visit. Roll your tone knob all the way back on your guitar, that's what the amp sounds like. What I love about the amp is its functionality, its loaded with all the right features, and Orange amps look so cool.
