Henning did well on this one. Maybe those folk who care should prime Henning to find out why no new EL34 amps...

Makes sense but Ade doesn't seem to be interested in making anything other than tiny 15 watt amps these days which is a real shame unless you are a bedroom warrior. They have twice as many 15 watt amps as anything else and not everyone likes EL84s. Maybe if they ever decide to make something new that isn't a 15 watt EL84 based amp I'll own another Orange.

It all started with a horse who began to feel ill... long after the illness took the life of the horse, someone found a stick that was absolutely prime for beating... I will give you a guess who found the stick and what they chose to beat with it.

That's a very sad story. I hope who ever found that stick didn't disturb the flies, they're busy recycling that horse into something new.

My data speed is limited until next week so vids take fooooorrrrreeeeevvvveeeerrr to load, stop and start and stutter along.
So someone please tell me if my guess is in the ballpark:
No Rocker 32 head because it has stereo power amps. They figure since so many guitarists are baffled by ohms with mono amps, people would fry a Rocker 32 head.
"My 1x12 has two jacks, so I can connect the two outputs of my Rocker 32 to it."
"My cab only has one jack, so I'll just leave one one of the R32's outputs disconnected."

Pretty much. People are idiots.Rlw59 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 10:51 amMy data speed is limited until next week so vids take fooooorrrrreeeeevvvveeeerrr to load, stop and start and stutter along.

Re: Why theres no Rocker 32 head
that is a GOOD reason to not make them. but i feel like if they scratched their heads a little they could make a fail proof way to do it. maybe something that defeats power to the amp unless something is actually plugged into both speaker outs. gotta be a simple way to do that. maybe.
Re: Why theres no Rocker 32 head
I think what Ade is getting at is the amp would have to be totally redesigned.caldurham wrote: ↑Tue Mar 13, 2018 12:27 amthat is a GOOD reason to not make them. but i feel like if they scratched their heads a little they could make a fail proof way to do it. maybe something that defeats power to the amp unless something is actually plugged into both speaker outs. gotta be a simple way to do that. maybe.

It's remarkably hard to make something foolproof.
You can anticipate every idiotic thing people will do, and some fool will think of some other idiotic thing to do.
Power cutoff if nothing is plugged in?

Re: Why theres no Rocker 32 head
Man, Henning was really grilling him on this. Ade seemed to be getting a little irritated.
Ade is absolutely right. Though we learned pretty early on that the bones are there to mod a R32 to do what Henning is talking about. You could re-wire the internal speakers for an 8 ohm load and swap the OT secondary to the 8 ohm tap on one side, then run the other side to your extension cab.
It would be nice to have a head, but Ade is right. You can only do so much with complex switching until it's confusing for your average user. You can wire up a fail safe load protection circuit. The Fryette Power Station has this, it reverts to standby if no speaker load is connected. But then you're driving up price, and weight, and working with very tight space in a chassis like that.
