The R32 only has one output (16 ohm) for each power amp, so two speaker loads need to be connected, but separately from one another. The worry is someone will plug in the wrong cab combo, one side not the other, jumper the two sides together, etc...then they’ll end up with a bunch of damaged amplifiers on warranty repair requests. I think they’re coming to these determinations after repairs they already see on non stereo amps, because people are stupid.
Thanks for the info.
Why the hell did they do that? What a dumb design. Just make it like every other amp that you can plug into a 4x12 @ 16 ohms. lol
It wouldn't be a stereo design then though. With a valve amp, if you want stereo out, you need 2 output transformers, and ewch of these OT need to see thwir own load. It's quite simple technically, but somewhat restricting practically. That's why Orange only did it as a combo amp.
And that's why a lot of stereo playing guys have 2 different amps, and split the signal earlier.
The R32 is somewhat unique that way, it's a very compact solution, but with its own restriction. It has a lot to offer though.
