So this thing has a MV and then volume AND a gain on the dirty channel. Im used to just a MV and a gain knob, how does the volume knob come into play here? Thanks

Late reply, but...

The volumes and MV work like every other amp with the same setup.

You have 2 channels whose levels can be set against each other using the individual volume knobs for each channel (e.g. clean channel louder than gain, gain channel louder than clean, or both channels at the same level), and then the master volume controls the overall volume of both at the same time while keeping the level differences between channels. Add gain as necessary.

I use only the dirty channel for my band and control levels with the volume knob(s) on my SG. Generally, my settings are (from 1-10):

- Bass @ 10
- Mids @ 5
- Treble @ 6
- Gain @ 6
- Dirty channel volume @ 10
- MV @ 2.5.

It's loud AF. Hope this helps. I love mine, that's for sure.
