Two OR15s into one 2x12?
Anyone ever tried this? Im guessing this is what the 2nd jack on the back of my 2x12 is for right? One cable from each in the 8 ohm (?) on the back of the amp into the two jacks on the amp? Then I would put both into an ABY switcher I guess and run them both at the same time?

You would blow them up.
The 2nd Jack on the cab is to daisy chain another cab.

This will let you run two heads and one cab but only one head at a time.

Otherwise you want to find a Stereo cab.
Something like the Marshall 1960 4x12:
Or the Orange PPC412HP8:

You need a second cabDexter211275 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 9:14 amGlad I asked! No way to run a second amp into my cab?Les Paul Lover wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 8:55 amYou would blow them up.

Re: Two OR15s into one 2x12?
OR - You could rewire your 2x12 to do exactly what you wanted. Each speaker would need to be wired directly to a single jack socket. I don't know for sure, but assume that a 16 ohm 2x12 would have two 8 ohm speakers. Each amp would then connect via the 8 ohm tap.
Re: Two OR15s into one 2x12?
Oh - and the ABY switcher should be between the guitar and amps. The amps should connect directly to the speakers.

I'd like to know what your trying to achieve?.... a second cab for me is the way to go , but by the time you've got a second cab and second amp you've spend more than getting an amp with 2 channels ....

Even 2 amps for one cab, you're pretty close to a channel switcher.Ronnie Robinson wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 7:03 pmI'd like to know what your trying to achieve?.... a second cab for me is the way to go , but by the time you've got a second cab and second amp you've spend more than getting an amp with 2 channels ....
Very pertinent observation Mr Robinson.

A bigger sound. I dont like any of the 30 watt Oranges and the OR50 doesn't sound like the OR15. I want an OR30 that sounds like the 15 lol. Not buying another 15 and cab though, far too expensive and too much to haul around.Ronnie Robinson wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 7:03 pmI'd like to know what your trying to achieve?.... a second cab for me is the way to go , but by the time you've got a second cab and second amp you've spend more than getting an amp with 2 channels ....

Re: Two OR15s into one 2x12?
Have you tried just a second 2x12 ?, One open back , one closed back?
If you want an amp with a dirty channel that's a bit of a beast, have you tried a Rocker 30?

The RV50 really isn't that far from the OR15.
Same preamp with a few components changed.

Re: Two OR15s into one 2x12?
Thanks but the OR100 is far too loud for my needs and doesn't sound like an OR15 much at all. I dont like the RV series. Sounds far too modern and I dont like the sound of the gain, reminds me of a Marshall.Les Paul Lover wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2018 7:18 amOR100 or RV50?Dexter211275 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 10:18 pmA bigger sound. Re: Two OR15s into one 2x12?
Doubling the power (two OR15's) will roughly give you an extra 3dB. Noticeable but not huge.
Depending on what speakers you have in your cab, it's possible to get a bigger increase than that just by changing the speakers.
Cab type (closed back, open back, ported) also has an affect on perceived volume.
So, what cab and what speakers do you have?

Re: Two OR15s into one 2x12?
For about the same price as a second new OR15, there's the Fryette Powerstation.
It's a "re-amper". It has a reactive load that absorbs your amp's output like a speaker so it doesn't change the amp's tone very much, then sends that lowered signal to a built-in very clean 50 watt 6L6 tube power amp.
You can use it to get the cranked sound of your OR15 at whisper volumes. But you can also use it to get the OR15's tone at 50 watts. Or 40, or 30, wherever you set the output knob.
