Tube combo

Post by Steviecharles » Wed Dec 20, 2017 6:02 pm

I have been looking at the small combo amps, I'd like to know what is a good, small, tube combo guitar amp. I have entered the #wishgranted contest, but whether I win or not, I want to own one someday. #Orangeamplifier

With Orange, current valve combo are R15, TH30, and R32 (from the smallest to the biggest.

All good amps, but quite different.

Other past production amps are the AD15, R30, RV50 MKII. The RV50 MKI and MKII were also sold as 212 combo (so not small!!!!), and the AD30tc as a 212 combo too.

Quite a lot of choice...... new or 2md hand.

What do you need from your amp?

I've owned 3 Orange amps. Most recent is the Rocker 15 combo. It is a great amp. Fantastic for home use and enough juice to handle most live club situations from what I've read. Highly recommended.

Just would like something that will deliver the creamy blues/jazzy sound for home and small gigs. Thank you for your input.

If you can track an old AD15, they are brilliant for both Jazz and blues. In terms of pristine cleans for jazz, the headroom is pretty limited, but it's a great amp for that.

Another option would be to track down a RV50 MKII combo.

Great beautiful warm cleans that will do jazz fantastically, and the clean and dirty channel will do blues just as greatly.

From current production, the TH30 combo is a great amp too - a mini Rockerverb, and will do exactly what you want too.
