Since the 7189 tube is a direct sub for El84 tubes can it be tested in the El84 socket? I don't want to damage the product.

If a 7199 is a direct replacement for an EL84, then it could possibly test in the DIVO. The manual says if you choose a tube it cannot test, it will immediately light up fail.
