I have a hand wired AD140 #53. I used to know Graham, who worked in the Atlanta office, and bought it through him.
My understanding is that it has appreciated in value. However, it's become an expensive dust collector, which is a waste. I'm finally getting around to sellling it. I'm not sure how to sell such an expensive item. Craigslist? eBay? (I never use eBay). And then what? Include the cost of a flight case in the sale?
Any advice appreciated.
How should I sell my hand wired AD140 Lead?

EBay and reverb are your main choices really.
I wouldn't recommend an auction - you may not get what you want.
Be prepared to ship it - make sure you can package it super safely and have it fully insured. Look into that cost and stare that as your shipping cost, or include that in your sale price and do it free shipping. Look into each web site sales fee too - save yourself a surprise after the sale is concluded. You may want to reflect the shipping and sale fees in the selling price.
Be prepared to take your time. Sure it's rare, but people wanting that head are rare too. Given time, it will sell for the right price.
Good luck with the sale!!!!

Are you saying that you already have a flightcase? If not, don't buy one to ship it - double-box it (I would recommend bringing it to a UPS Store and paying to have them box it - if they box it, it's easier to make a claim if Something goes wrong)
The order that I would try selling it is:
facebook
craigslist locally
ebay
You could do what I did for a very large item I sold on ebay with only local pickup offered: I gave the guy the phone number of the UPS Store near me and he contacted them directly with a credit card and paid for all boxing and shipping costs. I simply dropped it off at the store....

Problem with Ebay is the percentage they take

They’re greedy bastards. I refuse to sell on eBay now because of the fees. I tell them this in every customer survey they send me. I’d rather sell gear locally, at a loss if need be, than give them the insane fees they charge.

I think eBay have switched their fees to 3.4% too, like reverb, for musical gear.

Don't listen to him. Buying and selling on the forum is forbidden.Sooner wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 12:15 amWhatever you do make sure and post a link here...RowsOfStone wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2017 6:59 pmI'm not sure how to sell such an expensive item. Craigslist? eBay? (I never use eBay).
