Casters for my cab

Post by lunchbox » Fri Oct 20, 2017 10:32 pm

No more breaking my back to haul my cab from my car to the studio anymore!

I just bought a furniture dolly so I can ratchet strap it to my ppc412 instead of adding casters

That's when I'm so happy to have only a PPC212.

The thought of lifting a PPC412 into my boot makes my back wince already.......

This. Velcro also works well if you want to go without ratchet straps.

It’s just a MIC CRPRO412, so I’m not worried about the screws. If it was a PPC I would have gotten a dolly.

At 47 and not working out these days, 90 lbs of a large cab is annoying to carry the 100’ or so from the parking lot to the studio. I’m not as strong as I used to be!! 😖

Even aged 20, that's a back breaker.
I've had my "light weight " PPC212 since I was 32..... and even then never liked picking it up. It's bloody heavy, wide, and just a plain awkward lift.

That's why when I see yours, compact or not, I'm still very happy with mine!!!! (And totally understand the caster wheels!!!)

Yeah, the compact is bad enough and yes, wide, so awkward to lift. I’d hate to have to lug a PPC around.

Wouldn't it roll easier if the casters were on the bottom?

It would roll just the same, but he would loose the possibility of acoustically mating the cab to the floor with the skids.

Having the casters on the side doesn't look great, but it's very functional.

Exactamundo. I want it to sit on the skids but not have to mess with removable wheels or a dolly. This is the best way that I could think of to accomplish that, sans using my levitation super power and risk exposing my true alien identity.
