Getaway Driver as a direct solution
My next gig is on this stage with virtually no room to stand let alone an amp. Hoping to go direct to the PA with just my pedalboard. May just be excuse enough to try a new Orange product - the Getaway Driver. My thought is to add it to the end of my board and go straight to the PA. Anyone tried it yet? How does it sound direct? Does it require a DI or can I just use a TS to XLR cable from GD to PA?
Re: Getaway Driver as a direct solution
They call it a DI box on musicians friend, but I would always run into a proper one. I would say go from the headphone out (has cab sim), and then into a di box (converts to XLR) then into PA.
Should do ya just fine!
That said, my interface has two built in DI boxes, so if the PA has a similar input you could go direct into one of those.
No experience with the tone but there has to be some YT videos that have a demo of the cabsim.

I just did a quick scan on YT and couldn't find anything that has cabsim out sorry. Everyone seems to be running them into beautiful orange rigs... go figure

There's actually a whole bunch of youtube videos that show the cab sim, I know cause I've literally watched them all haha.

I own the pedal and love it but I've only tried the heaphones out with headphones and not through a PA. It would probably work ok, but no quite as good as mic'd through an amp if I had to guess. It sounds a bit more muffled through headphones IME.
The pedal itself sounds huge, the more gain you use the more bass it adds so it really pumps out big low end if you're going for higher gain. That could be a good or a bad thing depending on what you're aiming for.
