Rocker 15 vs. OR 15?

Post by tOR15 » Thu Oct 12, 2017 7:22 pm

Hi,

did someone play both amplifiers, the Rocker15 and the OR15? And could tell me how they sound in a comparison?

I'm a big fan of my OR15 with his vintage voicing. But a second channel and a more transportable option would be very nice.

Cheers, tOR15

When it comes to Orange... why not both??

I think they are both amazing! I personally love being able to use a head with a 1x12/2x12/4x12 as the situation calls.

If you have a good overdrive or a boost pedal in front of the OR15 you pretty much have a 2 channel amp

Not to dismiss the Rocker 15 its just that I'm not a fan of 1x10 cabinets, I used to have an AD5 and it was grand for

cleans at home but it was really boxy cranked up and was never loud enough to use live if it wasnt mic'd and

monitored back. Granted the R15 has more power and a different speaker but I don't think ill be getting a 1x10 again

I vote OR15 and PPC112 - happy hunting! :D

Yes, but I love the overdrive sounds of the OR15. I'm not a big fan of overdrive/distortion pedals. There are a few cases I use them, but I Love the pure amp sound.

Thats right, but it is a great portable option, a combo with an internal Speaker. I would prefer a 12". But I could use one of my external cabs with the combo, too.

I play the OR15 with a 2x12 cab in my Music room at home, and have combo for mobile cases.

The Marshall dsl5c and a Blackstar HT1 Combo, as a mobile option (livingroom, garden, jamming with friends, ...) but I'm not really happy with them.

I vote OR15 and PPC112 - happy hunting! :D
The OR15 stays here :-) but I sold my PPC 112 and bought a Framus 212, put Greenbacks in it.
But I want a Combo as a second Amp. To be more mobile and my son startet playing Guitar, too. Maybe the Rocker 15 would be a good complement for us. If the sound fits.

I've got a Blackstar HT1R, and ubfind it a bit disappointing too.

I keep it for my son though - at 1w he can't damage his hearing with it.

If you have the cash own both, I'm sure you will find uses for both. Both are nice amps.

Late reply, It's been a while since I've been here.
I have the OR15 but both of those are vintage voiced. I'm not a big fan of 10 inch speakers which is why I got the OR15. You don't get the same bass response as you do from 12 inch speakers. But the Rocker 15 is also an excellent choice and perhaps you may like it more than the OR15. Do you want portability at the expense of less bottom end or do you want flexibility with the OR15? To me, both sound pretty similar.

Rocker 15 is my vote. I think the 10" speaker is decent. Can always add a cab.

I see the rocker 15 getting a lot of love in some places.

I bet that 10" is great in band context.
The extra bite and high end you get from that I'm sure will help cut through even better.

That said, I do love V30s......

I have a new Rocker 15 combo, and the 10" has a surprising amount of low end. Keeps up fine with a good drummer doing classic rock and blues. Sounds even better with an additional 12" cabinet. For the $$, it punches way above it's weight. AND, it's only 29 pounds....great for my 60 year old back...
