Sad to hear that Tom Petty died yesterday. Saw him several times in Boston including one of his first appearances at the Paradise on July 16, 1978. He was a great songwriter...

Here's a link to that show:

A great loss to music. He was the real deal.

My takeaway from TP's passing is to schedule a physical with my doctor since those of us at a similar age need to really watch our health....

It's always good to get physical with your doctor. Is she fit?

I always viewed Petty and all of his crew as "late" classic rock in terms of their age compared to say the Stones. And since they were still producing great music I thought they would keep trucking for some time to come. I felt a bit of musical solace, which I didn't know I would lose when his death was announced.
