Orange Ppc212 vs h&k 412?

Post by Jke » Thu Aug 10, 2017 6:57 pm

Hello! I'm on the hunt for a cab for my new thunderverb 200 and have the choise to buy either a Ppc212 or a hughes & kettner 412, both with v30 speakers and for about the same price.

Does anyone have any experience with h&k cabs? Orange cabs seem really good, but then again the h&k is 2 speakers bigger. What do you think?

The PPC212 can't handle you TV200 at full pelt. Wrong impedance, wrong wattage.

You really need to find a cab rated above 200w, ideally at 8ohms (so you can plug in in 200w or 100w mod, just different output taps.

A 120w 16ohms PPC212 would only let you play it in 100w mode.

Thanks for the input! I think that's what I'll do, I can always buy another later if I want 412 I guess :)

I know, which is a shame.. I will play on the 100w setting for starters, but I'm planning on buying a Celestion redback 150w 16ohm later on to pair with my Eminence Legend 120w 16ohm. No idea if it's a good match, but from what I've heard the redback sounds great, and I really like my legend as well :)
Guess I could always sell the v30's that come in the cab later!

Thanks guys, I've decided on getting a black ppc212 to match my amp. I have a feeling it's going to be awesome :)

Les Paul Lover makes a great point! I wasn't thinking about the 200watts. 100 watts is more than enough for guitar however. You need two Orange cabs to run in 200 watt mode to get 8 ohms.
