I like Mercury Magnetics, although the transformers stock on the TT are decent. I think the MM power transformer throws a bit more voltage which would increase headroom. Not sure if the OT changed anything, perhaps the impedance is altered a little.

***update***
K, so I actually ended up buying a white Vox AC15 on eBay. It gives me all the flexibility my TT doesn't have and between the two I have myself covered for pretty much any scenario I would need to play in. I have my beast and I have my beauty. So excited!
I'm definitely going to forgo the FX loop on the TT now. However, I've already ordered the Mercury Magnetics mod kit for the TT. So now I'm debating to return the mod kit and take the $100 (CDN) hit on shipping or installing it anyway, which will cost me the $400 (CDN) I spent on the kit and shipping plus probably another $100 labour.

Thanks! Yeah, the MM upgrade is expensive. The transformers are what really drives it up, and then the choke is $50 on top.Les Paul Lover wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2017 7:14 amHappy New amp day!!!!

Oh no! My amp guy had ordered parts for the loop too already! Now I'm in a pickle! lol
Re: Modded TT or OR15
Well, add some tubes, resistors, capcitors and wire and you've got another amp. You're already 3/4's the way there.
Curious what part of Canada you're in?

Re: Modded TT or OR15
I technically can, but I've been struggling with chronic illness, and while I've started to see some improvement lately, I don't want to spend too much of my savings in case things get bad again. What started out as getting myself a little gift has really gotten out of hand! At first I was only going to put a bit of work into my little Orange workhorse and now I've put $350 into guitar maintenance, $700 into a new Vox (plus whatever the border fees will be), and now $850 in mods to the TT if I choose to do them. That's a pretty big chunk of change. I mean it really sets me up well for gear, but gosh...Les Paul Lover wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2017 4:20 pmCan you afford both?Sasha.danielle wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2017 2:28 pmOh no! The guitar maintenance had to be done and the Vox was money well spent because gives me way more flexibility than just modding up my TT, but now the TT mods just seem indulgent! lol

Sounds like you're about to have an awkward conversation with your tech......Sasha.danielle wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2017 6:23 pmI technically can, but I've been struggling with chronic illness, and while I've started to see some improvement lately, I don't want to spend too much of my savings in case things get bad again.
