Palmer attenuator, PDI-06-16 Ohm, anyone?
Anyone familiar with this attenuator? Only need to lower the volume 4-5 db

I have one and I use it sometimes when I bring my old amps to rehearsal. It's not perfect. You can hear a bit of extra compression in the mids. But it doesn't sound bad. Just not quite as open. I'll probably upgrade to a Fryette Power Station or something in the load/reamp models sometime in the future. But that's quite a bit more money so for now I'm good with the Palmer.

Johnny A. uses two of them with his rig... and loves them.

Re: Palmer attenuator, PDI-06-16 Ohm, anyone?
How would one connect two 16 Ohm cabs using the PDI-06-16?
Would it require 2 separate attenuators, and would coming off the
8 Ohm outputs affect the load on the attenuators?
Thx.

I'm not an expert but I think if you're only using two 16 ohm cabs (never just one) you should get the 8 ohm version of the Palmer. Personally I'd probably only use one cab if the goal is to get the volume down.

Yeah, I can't imagine using two cabs with an attenuator if the goal is less volume. If you're always going to use the two, then yes get the 8 ohm.Hellavision wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2017 6:56 pmI'm not an expert but I think if you're only using two 16 ohm cabs (never just one) you should get the 8 ohm version of the Palmer. But you could always use a 16 ohm attenuator with one cab and just keep the other one for looks.

Re: Palmer attenuator, PDI-06-16 Ohm, anyone?
I appreciate the input, but, according to Ohm's law the difference in db an additional speaker
adds is negligible, I believe 3db @ 100 watts per additional speaker. I really was only a little curious if one would connect attenuators in the same manner as speakers (one 16 Ohm to the 16 Ohm output, two 16 Ohm speakers to the two 8 Ohm outputs).
Thanks

So it says the Palmer is
for 16 ohm speakers, but if the cab is loaded with 8ohm speakers and it says 16 ohm on the cab then I should get the 16 ohm attenuator right?

Thanks - just ordered my first attenuator. Quite exited to see if I can drop 10-15 % volume and still keep the sound I like
