So I made up my mind and got a CR120 combo. Mint cond, fair price. I realized I needed an FX loop to be able to have some good delay effects. Since the new band's rehearsal studio is located in another city I didn't wanna move my precious tube heads back and forth so I decided to buy a cheaper alternative and keep it in the studio continuously. I'm gonna combine it with my open back 212 for a handsome 412 stack. And it sounds massive. Really good indeed.

Good thing I have these 28" dual monitors, otherwise those pics may have seemed a little big

Re: Another NAD...
Congrats!!!!
But my question is..... Why not play the valve heads live / with the band?
Sure they may get marked, but surely that's what they're here for? I love taking my gear out to play. They cost me a bunch if money, and I take great pleasure in hearing them out.

Re: Another NAD...
I'm in the same mindset. I will never take my orange heads/cabs out to play a gig. Of course they will get beat up, and I do not want that! Instead I bought a previously loved cab just for live stuff. The TT is small enough, and protected enough in the bag that I don't have to worry about bumping it around or any damage really (just don't drop it!). I also fixed up one of my old guitars just for the purposes of gigging. I don't want to bang up any of my higher quality guitars, and we all know no matter how careful you are they will get damaged. Plus, if my rig ever gets stolen, then I'm not out the big money from my UK Orange gear, and USA guitars.

What do you think of the CR120 overall?

Re: Another NAD...
Great that you're loving the amp. I'm a total fan of good s.s. gear, as you probably remember. Love great sounding valve gear of course, but a lot of that s.s. love has to do with sheer convenience too, not only sounds. I'm, nearly 55 now and it is just plain easier / safer to shift. I'd not hesitate to gig amost any of my gear though given the opportunity, and that includes the vintage valve amps. (Only real exception is the old AC30 which frankly I wouldn't trust enough. )
Try to love and protect my gear but am also not too precious about it. (Just don't tread on my cables or put drinks near my amps!!!) My OR120 has done many gigs with me, with just the original soft cover - which needs replaced now right enough. And my two fairly expensive basses (Marleaux & Rickenbacker) both already have some very slight dents, but that's okay, I enjoy using them properly out there. I regularly drag the Marleaux to jam sessions and if someone else knows their way around a fretless they may well get to use it if they ask.
For rehearsals (and even gigs) I'd be more than happy with a Crush Pro. Loved the 60 combo I tried. Love valves, but not a valve snob...
Andy.

Re: Another NAD...
Lucky guy! I'd try to sneak in the occasional new amp or cab (do really fancy a black R.15 ) but that would cause real grief at home. Quite why new basses and guitars are allowed but not 'more boxes' I've never quite worked out...Bensnake wrote:...Actually I've reached a level where my wife doesn't notice whether I've bought a new amp or sold one.

Re: Another NAD...
I really like it. Combined with the PPC212OB you get a 412 setup that moves air... It's very much like a Rockerverb tonewise. And it works great with Teles.lunchbox wrote:Very nice!
