Hi guys - not been here for a while, but I thought some of you might be interested in this.
My GRO100 really wasn't getting the use it should have been. I'd tried it with an attenuator, but it wasn't the same. So my local amp repair shop suggested their own design power reduction modification. Fully reversible, and tested to the nth degree...

It sounds so good - I can actually roll the volume up and let the thing breath - I've had one band rehearsal with it so far, and it's sublime.
Just thought I'd share.
Mark.

Great video!
Does the amp still sound like itself at higher power reduction?
If it does, it really has to be the way to go for these wonderful dinosaur amps.

Hi - yes, it really does. One caveat - it was loud in that video! I mean, loud home volume, I'm sure my neighbours were getting pissed off by the end of it.. You still have to get some serious volume going, but for a single channel amp with no master volume, it makes it really usable.

I'm always a fan of tinkering. Any idea on the details of what they did?

Not sure exactly what they did - I know there's a fan installed now, to remove some of the heat generated.
It was pricey too - they spent a lot of time to get it right...
