I'm a big fan of GT EL34M's. The QC can be a bit spotty but so long as you handle them gently and bias them on the cool side, they sound miles ahead of any other new production EL34's I've heard.

I seem to recall a time when lots of people were recommending Shuguang. I got some a few years ago matched by Tube Amp Doctor. I haven't used them yet, so this post is of no use.

I had problems with EHX EL34's in a Rockerverb that I used to own with a bit of redplating
so i began to use Winged C Svetlana's not to be confused with Svetlana Tubes
The Winged C's are bulletproof in my humble opinion

The stock Ruby and PM tubes are fine. I tried a bunch others but heard little difference so I kept with the tubes the amp came with.
Re: which el34 to buy for orange amps
I've always got on just fine with JJ's.

Re: which el34 to buy for orange amps
I've used Electro Harmonix, Mesa Boogie, Ruby, Groove Tubes, and JJ's. Stuck with the JJ's, but surprisingly enjoyed the Rubies that came stock in the OR100. They're all just kinda different in my ears, but I wouldn't describe any as sounding "worse" when set up correctly. For what it's worth, I feel like the JJ's are a little tighter with a bit more gain. But that just could have been discerned hearing from changing from old, dying tubes to fresh springy suckers.

Yeah, still can´t choose between my Rubys and the electro harmonix. You can dial both of them in quite nicely. However- the yellowjacket sollution with el84s are out of the question. The amp sounds way too compressed. The el34s are way more open and alive. They are just so god damn loud
