NGD!

Post by Bensnake » Sun Apr 16, 2017 12:24 am

So finally I did manage to upload pics again. :D Here's the axe I've been looking for. Gibson CS R0, iced tea high gloss. Bought it unused from a bloke who got it as a birthday gift.

Thanks! It plays like a dream. I've searched for this model for quite a while. They're hard to find. I love the fact that is not aged in any way. I wanna wear my guitars myself.

seriously! paying extra for an artificially aged guitar? not this dude.

now - this is a beautiful axe! I can almost hear the fat woody snarl from those custom humbuckers. the '60 has the slimmer neck doesn't it?

rock on!

Thanks, man! Yeah, that fake "road worn" sh*t doesn't appeal to me at all. And yes, that snarl is pure rock. Standing in the cave making Slash moves doesn't feel rediculous anymore... The neck is slimmer than the 50's though not THAT slim. Feels perfect for what I'm doing.

I probably will never own a LP but they are everywhere so one can't help but develop opinions and likes and dislikes.

That is what a LP should look like, in my view.

I have no problem with relic'd, VOS or whatever other process Gibson uses on some of their high end vintage reissues.

Brand spanking new is fine also with the stipulation that the guitar will be used enough to develop its own natural patina.

Spinal Tap-style dead mint closet queens are an affront to music making.

On the 'relic' thing, can understand non-believers, but I'm not allergic myself. Probably because I've played some really fantastic (as in FABULOUS!) new 'worn' instruments. (And would totally recommend a visit to 'Rebel Relic' for anyone visiting Amsterdam - as long as you have a couple of grand to hand, because if not dead to a truly great guitar or bass you'd be sorely tempted!!!)

Really well relic'd instruments can totally look and feel the part. If they are good instruments anyway. Fender started it and definitely have the hang of it now. Crap relics just look (and usually play) crap of course, but a few talented people and companies have made it a real art and I can respect that.

If ever going for one (unlikely but not impossible that I might grab a nice self spec'd RR myself one day) I'd go for fairly light wear myself. ;)
