Orange Custom Shop 50 head

Post by Blindsummit » Fri Mar 24, 2017 5:08 pm

I am back playing in a band and my Fender 57 Deluxe & Orange AD15/10 (serial number 008) are just not cutting it. Decided to buy a Orange Custom Shop 50 head, which I have had major GAS ever since it was released at NAMM a few years back.

It's due to arrive by courier on Monday, so I'll find a way of posting some thoughts and photos next week.

Also I'll be listing my Orange AD15/10 (serial number 008) on eBay later today. Wonderful amp in superb condition.

Absolutely thrilled with this amp. Only had the briefest of plays so far and its incredible. Cannot wait to rehearse with the band on Saturday with this. I'm hoping to pick up a cab next month.

Looks great!!!
I would live to try one myself. I heard someone try one once, it did sound very tasty!

You'll need an OBC212 or PPC212 with that....!!!!

Great amp, but too loud for me, so I installed yellow jackets in it to make it work more like a 15 watt amp. Works great. First amp I have used without having the need for overdrive pedals. Sounds great all on it´s own. Just tweek the volume knob and you are in overdrive heaven
Les Paul, Orange AD50 CS, ppc 212 ob with 3ow green back heritage (g12h 30) and a greenback (g12m), Boss tuner, Cry Baby, Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress, T-Rex replica and the orange sustain pedal

I agree about the pedals, I am playing without any pedals at all and thrilled with the tones I am getting out of this amp.

Installed new tubes in mine - ehx el34 - for the first time in 4 years since I bought it. Actually made it less loud and way sweeter. Forget my post about yellow jackets. I´m hooked on the amp as it is with the el34 tubes. It just looses too much bottom end with the el84 compared to the el34. The new el34s just made the el84s sound as thin and shrill. Like compairing a Suzuki swift to a Porche (I happen to own a Swift - which is okay but not a Porche). Actually fired my extension cab as well. A 212 with g12h is enough for me.

So what is the difference between a CS50 and an OR50?
