Hello all,
I'm new to Orange amps and this is my first post. I've had a JCM800 since I was a kid and I allays thought that was a great amp. I picked up a Micro Dark just to play around with and that got my curiosity up so a couple weeks later I bought an OR15 and I was blown away by the sound I get from this little amp. It's just about perfect plugging my guitar straight in with no pedals needed.
I was wondering if I wanted to step up to a 50 or 100 watt amp, which Orange amp would get close to the sound of the OR15. I really like the gain that's available on the OR15 and I haven't touched the JCM since I brought home the OR15. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
New guy

Re: New guy
Probably the Rockerverb or recently discontinued Or100 (if u can find one)....But I've have a good look at the range, and not limit yourself, what features do you need and what tones do you want.
The new Rocker 32 looks great and has many great feature s and although I've not used one it seems to have some excellent tone, but there are many excellent amps in the lineup.

Re: New guy
I'd say the Rockerverb or the OR100 as Ronnie says above. The Dual Dark is probably too modern/tight compared to the tone you like in the OR15. The Rockerverb is a bit more modern sounding than the OR15 but I think you'd love it. You'll get a wonderful clean channel as well.

The RV50 or RV100 are good bets.

Re: New guy
Rockerverb 50 MKIII if you want to take it to the extreme. OR50 will get you there too (but harder to find these now that they've been discontinued).

Go Rockerverb MKIII or an OR 50/100 but as others have said it might be hard to snag one of those.

Re: New guy
Welcome! I, too, was a grateful jcm800 user, til I could afford a second premium amp and went with the OR100. I think both the discontinued models OR50 and OR100 will do you right, but even though they're in a similar old school voicing, they still have a bunch of different features. The big difference between the two is the separate clean channel on the OR100. If you're a classic jcm800 user, you'll love the OR50 for its simplicity, boost, and presence control. However, if you want oodles of modern features and control (gain and global boosts, separate clean and dirty channels, fx loop, and power scaling), the OR100 is a swiss army knife of vintage flavored amps. It's also unique as the only OR series amp produced by orange with separate channels, which was a great idea due to the high gain from the OR50's and the ludicrous headroom of the old OR80/120's, though the latest iterations sound very little like their 90's and 70's amps.
I ended up with the OR100 for its clean channel, because these amps have quite a bit of gain and fairly low headroom on the dirty channels, though the in between breakup tones with that resonant clarity and hint of fuzzy breakup can't be beat, imo.
Best part: almost objectively, both these, the rockerverbs, and the ad series sound a tier above the very respectable OR15, so either way, you're gonna have a hell of an upgrade, if you do scale up. Great amps, the lot of em.
It shouldn't be too hard to snag either of the discontinued models with a little patience. OR50's appear on reverb fairly regularly for great second hand prices. Used OR100's pop up too, but are a bit more rare.

I bought one of these https://www.dropbox.com/s/s768vzmsfnz5r ... d.jpg?dl=0
and went out of my or15 into the effects return of a 100w tube amp. Sounds real good. Then I saved up some money and bought an or100. That sounds real good too. Now I'm saving some more money for whatever comes next.

Re: New guy
Thanks for the replies guys. The OR 50 or even the 100 seemed like the logical next step but they are kind of hard to find. I wonder why thy dicontinued them. people seem to really like them. I will try to hear a Rockverb somewhere to hear in person. Not a lot of great guitar stores here in Arizona. We have Guitarcenter of course but it's Guitarcenter. The good thing is I have time and I'm not currently playing with anyone in a live setting that would require more volume than the OR15 can do so no rush. I don't know why I never checked out Orange amps before but I wish I did sooner. the JCM served me well for many years and we had some wild times together for sure but I really like the different tones the Orange can give me. I don't need much in the way of features I'm a simple straight into the amp guy but a clean channel with lots of headroom would be nice although most of my time is on the overdriven side.
Thanks again for all the advice.
