Hello Everyone,
So after about two years of being on sale my Oxford pedal finally sold. Funny, because now (8 weeks later) I'm actually in need of a amp/cab sim for live use. Derp... Oh well.
I'm working on writing material for a live electronic act (Dirty Bass Synth, Drum Machine, & Guitar). I really don't want to deal with hauling an amp, or micing anything up for this project. Everything is going to be run into an on-stage mixer, and then out into the PA.
Anyhow, I've been researching these cute little FlyRig pedals and they seem decent TBH. Their direct sound is pretty good if you ask me. They also recently released a Cali, and Brit version (intrigued by this, but no demos yet).
Does anyone have any experience with these guys, or recommend anything as an alternative? I don't necessarily need reverb, as I have a lexicon pack built into my mixer. Delay would be nice though, as I like a pretty wet clean tone.
Thanks everyone!

Seen them in the store, they look interesting. Haven't tested one yet, but I've heard good things.Sansamp has a good reputation.

Well I think these two demos sold me on it.

Love the first light gain tone on the "Guitarist" demo.
I really don't know why 95% of all gear demos are classic rock. A problem I frequently find with Orange amp demos too. "Oh, Oranges, are only for classic rock, you better get a Rockerverb if you want to play anything modern".
It's nice to see the versatility of this guy. Here is to hoping they come out with an orange flavored one

Re: Tech 21 FlyRig 5?
I picked up a used (original version) one at a really good price a while back. I haven't gigged with it but I would say I could get by with it as a back up. I think the amp-like sounds are very passable with a good PA and it wouldn't be a big deal to use one live IMO.
The only downsides I've found are it won't react like a good tube amp in terms of dynamics and natural compression, but can you really expect anything different? Probably my biggest beef with it is the Plexi section. To get that amp/speaker simulation when using the Plexi mode you have to use the SansAmp as the base of the platform, meaning you can't run just the Plexi for a Marshall tone. I thought it should have that capability so you could eq the SansAmp as a clean Fender-ish sound and use the Plexi as a 2nd channel/amp tone.
Last thing, the power supply is a 12v. I have a couple of battery packs that I use for small pedal set-ups but they run at 9v instead. I've come up with a booster to get it to 12v but before I figured that out you do get some weird distortion from the delay section if you're running it at 9v.
Bottom line, I dig it.

Re: Tech 21 FlyRig 5?
I use one of these and I really love it!
I like the fact that with the Sans Amp part you can put it though any amp and still have YOUR sound. Drive is great, boost is good for some variety (for boosting the SA into overdrive or the crunch into a solo sound) and the Delay is great fun - especially with the tap tempo! Only downside I've found is, because I sing as well, I sometimes turn on/off the wrong buttons - it's very compact down there!
