CR120H hot and farting making weird noises
I have a brand new Orange CR120h head with a brand new Avatar 2x12 head. I was running though a OD pedal, tuner, and noise gate pedal. I am running at 16ohms. Yesterday was the second time i have ever played with a drummer with this amp. So i had it turn up about on 3 or 4, sounded good but after a while when i was hitting low notes it would make some crazy noises, like farting but like weird overtones and what not. Anyone else run into this issue? Thoughts? I am going to run it at 8ohms today and see what it does, but i think since it wont be hot and loud like it was i won't have the issue.

I don't think running at 8ohms would be any better. Perhaps there's something wrong with the wiring of your new cab?

I'd return it myself. Sounds like a power supply issue. That is if it's not the speakers.

I played for about 3 hours before the issue started happening. Would the speakers have made the sound earlier on? I am going to mess around with it tonight and see if i can replicate the issue.Jondog wrote:I'd return it myself. Sounds like a power supply issue. That is if it's not the speakers.

I'd return it and use the warranty.

And this. There's always a chance, no matter how high the quality assurance, that you got hold of a bad copy.Ronnie Robinson wrote:I'd return it and use the warranty.

Sounds more like a speaker issue than an amp issue. Farting out usually comes from a blown speaker. What kind of speakers are you using? What is their wattage?
With SS amps, if something goes wrong, it will usually cut out entirely, from what I know about them.
