R30 or RV50.....

Post by Les Paul Lover » Wed Oct 05, 2016 10:07 pm

I usually take my AD15 out when playing a few songs out at my local pub. Nice and easy to transport, sounds great.

I've decided to treat myself and haul the cab tomorrow.... But Just can't decide on which head to take!!!!!

Gosh, don't I just have a terrible problem here...

I might just flip a coin if I haven't made my mind tomorrow night. :!:

Judging from the comments over the years, it seems to me the RV50 is much more versatile. I love my R30, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely not a Swiss Army knife.

Sounds like a good idea.

You know well enough the differences so maybe the choice is down to what songs your playing ....do you need to use delays, chorus etc , do you need a nice clean channel.

Also Rv has a much more effective volume control which makes it more...er. ... controllable!

Yeah..... Won a collection only auction in ebay.... And got it for a snip. This my cheapest amp ever. I thought I'd flip it as I thought I didn't like it...... But plugged in...... And realised that what I don't like is non broken in V30 in shops.

So that's almost as good as my house will compare to your music room Bensnake!!!

Really great amp, I love that fuzzy OD. I must say the 1 gain stage only clean channel is alright..... But The volume imbalance is a bit annoying.

Heck. Take both and swap at half time. Could be cool to do a proper A/B in a live setting.

I was myself a prominent R30 hater. But Again, playing one through broken in V30 totally change my mind. It's still raw, pretty aggressive, but I love that fuzzy edge.

It was the RV50. It won tonight. Next week I'll take the R30.

Great fun night, but I've got to get up again in about 6h and hopefully feel more sober than now!!!!
