I was tweaking and fiddling around with my pedalboard, been constantly fighting to decide between the pedals I have, and today the board looked something like this, with my OR15. I love the tones I am getting off this beast of an amp.

My OR15 has a ECC82 in the V1 position, so the gain knob at 12o Clock really means, the amp is pretty much clean.

This pedal indeed sounds great, at lower gain settings, I plan to do some mods to it to make it a little more useful for my requirement.Boy_Narf wrote:OH WOW!!!

How does it sound compared to the MT-2? It's known to be a bit of failure . I modded mine with a kit that makes it much more useful.

Never tried an MT2, can't comment sorry!!Jondog wrote:How does it sound compared to the MT-2? It's known to be a bit of failure . I modded mine with a kit that makes it much more useful.

I believe if I remember correctly the MT-2 was less dynamic, not as warm and without the super clear and pronounced low hz that gives a good chug and saturated sound as in the HM.....Jondog wrote:How does it sound compared to the MT-2? I prefer it to the Metal Zone. The MT2 sounds so nasal. You can get more guts and saturation out of the HM2. The one potential negative with the HM2 is the series germanium diodes that create crossover distortion. They give the pedal kind of an odd swirl of harmonics that bothers some players. It's really easy to bypass them with a jumper (or a small resistor if you want to retain a little of that sound). I think the HM2 is a classic. David Gilmour used it for a heartbeat, and it's popular with shoegaze bands, too.

Generally the case with pedals is, not all pedals work with all amps and guitars, I have come to realize that after trying "hundreds", literally I mean it...
and when it comes to buying a pedal, whether it be let's say the KOT or Klon or Flex Drive or others, these may work well with some amps and can be terrible with some.
I would hate to put down my money on these expensive or even cheap pedals only to find out it does not work with my amp, that's always a concern at the back of my mind.
Staying is India doesn't help, since most of these boutique pedals are sold for super exorbitant prices, hence I started my own builds, and am happy with the results so far. When i get a chance to grab some cheap pedals, I like to do it, provided the foundation (circuit) is good to be modded and if i am sure I can make it work in my rig.
I know people who blindly buy super expensive pedals, then realize these pedals do not work with their rig, and they buy it looking at some big players whom they admire, but then, I admire Satriani, and hated the Vox Satchurator, I learnt the lesson right away.
Point of all the blabber is to try pedals with your rig, loan them from friends or listen to someone who has a similar rig and the pedal you are after. It is a tedious process, but then the money you put down for some is too much to not be careful.
