Thats right! New Old Stolen Amp Day!
exactly one year ago we had a break in at out rehearsal space and even though we got most of our stuff back I lost my OR15 and a JMJM.
BUT! my brother picked up on a sales ad on facebook, the seller had a OR15 very similar too mine. It was mine.
I send the guy a PM and asked where he got it from and told me he got it from his dad and some friends of his.
After I told him that it was my stolen amp he kinda freaked out and stopped answering my PMs.
This guy was barely 18 and later we found out his dad had a drug problem, and some ishy friends cause of that.
Well, the kid woke up and did the right thing. He gave me my amp back!
Now, its a little beaten up because the guy who first stole it tried to remove the signature I had on it.
But hey! I dont care, I got my amp back!

No, there is a guy who was caught and prosecuted for the break in already.Ronnie Robinson wrote:That's brilliant news.

His father might not have been aware that it was stolen goods and if so, the kid did make things right again.
Re: NOSAD
so nice to see someone do the right thing for a change..
congratulations on getting the amp back and major props to the kid.

Congratulations on getting your amp back!
and also congratulations on not getting yourself killed. While it worked out for you, the best thing to do was to get the police involved... I've known people who tried to recover stolen stuff on their own and it didn't work out so well.

well, i dont think a scared 50kg 18 year old was the biggest threat. Especially in a small town of <30k in peaceful Norway.bclaire wrote:Congratulations on getting your amp back!

There wasnt any conflict at all and he was very respectful. Even offered him a pint if he was ever in Oslo.
But yeah, one should be wary in such situations.

Glad to see you got it back!
More and more often I hear about gear being stolen, and it's depressing knowing a lot of those people worked there butts off to afford their gear.
At least there is some hope out there.

Re: NOSAD
Amazing story!
I should consider signing off all my amps faceplates..... And Perhaps chisel my name in my guitars too, just in case.

Congrats on getting it back!
A friend of mine had his vintage VW bus stolen ('66 Double Cab). He kept his eye out for ads in the local paper, and it finally paid off. A guy was advertising for a bus of the same year. He called the guy, and went to check it out. It was indeed his bus, stolen by a Mexican gangbnger. He kept the ruse up, negotiated a price with the thief, and told him that he would go to the bank and be back in a few. He then went and called the cops. They met him in down the street from the house and then went and arrested the guy. Turns out he had a bunch of other stolen cars on the property too, plus drugs. A lot of people got their cars and parts back and were made happy by his actions.
