That is the original 8" speaker that Orange used in the PPC108 cabs (and CR20L combo) IIRC. Note that the terminal strip is identical to the one on the VOTW-labeled driver. All they did was make a fancier sticker for it.

The speakers in the early Crush combos had no label at all - just an ink-stamped model number. That's because no one had a reason to open them up in theory, so cosmetics didn't matter.

Thank you Randy for that bit of information. I'm glad to hear the speaker wasn't switched...too bad it was blown though.

I've only bought one dodgy thing on ebay, a broken SM57, I was fretting quite a bit until he refunded me.

Glad it all got sorted as you wanted!!!

I was quite surprised, he took it back and refunded the money with no problem at all. This was the first thing I bought off ebay that I've had a problem with...and I buy a lot. The new Marshall MHZ 112A cabinet sounds fantastic. It's in mint condition and I checked the speaker and just as the seller said, it has an upgrade to a G12T-75 speaker. The Marshall cabinet came shipped in it's original packaging materials from the factory.

As stated earlier this is a genuine orange ppc108 speaker. Here's my pic from about 4 years ago.

Yep that's it. I was surprised to find them on the internet for $10.00.

Not sure you should be that surprised, they are pretty cheap cabs.

You did well going for the PPC112 marshall cab, it'll be a world away!!!!!

I bought the MHZ 112A Marshall cabinet with a G12T-75 speaker upgrade. It's a used cabinet with a newer speaker in mint condition. The G12T-75 speaker alone costs about $92 dollars new at Musician's Friend. I got the whole thing for $165 plus $35 bucks shipping, for a total of $200. The Orange PPC112 cabinets I was looking at were priced at $379... that's a huge difference. So I did well. I'm on a strict budget so price was a very important factor for me. I'm very happy with the sound of the Marshall cabinet. It's a discontinued model so they are hard to find. I got lucky. Marshall makes another 12" cabinet but it's much smaller than mine.

I also saved money on the Micro Dark amp. I got it for $150 plus $10 shipping, $160 total. It was sold as a used item but the power cables for it were never used and still sealed in bags. So I know it never got used. New the Micro Dark sell for $189 so I saved about $30 bucks there.
