Soon to arrive - R30H

Post by Bensnake » Thu Apr 28, 2016 11:25 am

I have searched for a Rocker head in mint cond for a year now and finally I found the right item. Darn good price as well. :D

Congrats! I bloody love mine.

I know everyone raves over the Dirty channel but I've really been enjoying the Natural channel lately. I messed around with running various EQ pedals in front of the Natural channel for a bit of tone shaping but whenever I switched the EQ pedal off, I just preferred the straightforward, not-messed-with tone of the Natural channel. It is so transparent and really highlights differences between guitars and pick-up selections like nothing else I know. In the factory demo, Ade Emsley himself said something like "If you have a good guitar and play well, it'll sound great - if you don't, it won't" and he's bang on the money.

I play mine through an oversized 1x12 cab fitted with an Eminence Wizard and the pairing really seems to work well.

Enjoy!

Thanks for your input. :D I'm still a little low for not getting a mint OR120 but this is definitely a great substitute. I'm gonna stack it on my RV together with the PPC212. A fine setup I'm sure.

That's a great deal and you are a total utter lucky bar-steward!

I am too though, got my JMI era ('65/'66) AC30 Top Boost head for total peanuts...

The Rockers get you a whole lot of amp for your money these days, but that was an amazing deal. Yeah looking forward to hearing your comparisons with the CS50. I'd imagine if the valves are good the Rocker should be near as dammit as loud and punchy. Different amps of course, very nice to have both I'd imagine.

Can't believe that! It really is a steal, a once in a lifetime happening. I assume it's a keeper as well. 8)

Another question; my R30 is a 2008 model. MM or Demeter tranformers?

Yep it was, and yep I've kept it. Works well but is about the most temperamental amp you could imagine. Sometimes sounds great, sometimes I can't dial it in at all and it just sounds average. When it is great though it really is fabulous.

Yes, they'll be either Demeters or MMs.
(The MM's used in some US built amps were bright orange so very easy to tell. Pic still on this page:
