Hello Everyone,
So I've been looking for a way to silently practice after getting fed up with my Oxford pedal. I decided it might be time to test out some software. So I downloaded a bunch of free VST amps and they sounded god awful. Also tried Guitar Rig and it was bad as well. Then I remembered Amplitube and WOW! This thing sounds amazing. I demoed the TT first since I have one and it just rips. Then I went to the only amp on my GAS list... OR50. The tone is huge, fuzzy, and absolutely beautiful.
So what I'm wondering is how close does the Amplitube model sound to the actual OR50? I tested the TTHW model and it sounds similar, but my non HW model seems much more fizzy. Is the HW less fizzy in real life? I'm also curious about the EQ section which doesn't seem to do all that much on the amp model (The EQ on my R30 is similar). The master volume is interesting as well, as it doesn't seem to do anything once it's over 50%. I'm guessing it adds more saturation which isn't easy to produce on the amp model. If this is an accurate representation of the amp, I'm defiantly putting it high up on my list again.
I also tested the RVMKII which sounds terrible. Very Metallica. So glad I sold my RV100MK1 haha.

Just bought the TTHW amp. Man it sounds good. They even gave me a 30% discount.
Re: Amplitube Wow! (OR50)
those models dont do the amps justice, they are good but they dont shine in the mix and dont react to pedals well. I would keep your oxford pedal, I like mine better than the or series that amplitube offers; just turn the level up 75% on the pedal and it will sound better.

Think I'm goona have to disagree with you man. The Amplitube models are the best digital representation of an amp I've heard and played. They actually have a bit of dynamic range depending on how hard you play. I'm going from my board into my interface 1/4" DI. One input is feeding a TT set clean in the center, and the other is feeding a set of high gain Terrors panned 95% left and right. It sounds huge!
I tried the OR50 model again and wasn't a fan of it. Very muddy.
The Oxford is garbage for any high gain tones. Where it really does excel IMO is with the gain all the way down. Some really lovely clean tones that I wish my real amp could reproduce hah.

Yeah one of the reasons i bought a TH30c was in part because of how good Orange amps sounded in Amplitube iOS, certainly compared to similar software. Opened my eyes to Orange as a tube amp brand anyway. I thankfully did get to play a few similar priced amps in the shop, but i do wonder if i'd have even considered an Orange if i hadn't used Amplitube, or whether i'd have just gone and bought a DSL40c like everyone else i know...

DSL40? EWW YUCK
I have it configured in my day to perfectly replicated my live amp set-up. Well they don't have Traynor amps, or the Fender Blackface, but the TTHW set clean actually sounds good. Lack of headroom isn't an issue since you can bump up the output level. Really impressed with this, not to mention the 72 hour amp demos are very generous.

Funny, I had one of those for a few weeks with an upgraded celestion g12t75 speaker.
Not the most dynamic of amps (a les paul or strat didn't seem to make the huge difference you'd expect), but it did sound great for these hard rock tight biting tones.
I think the stock marshall branded speaker was sh*te though.
Annoyingly enough, my wife preferred it to my Oranges.
I still sold it almost straight away.

I really hate when they do that...I think its an intentional form of suppression technique they have learned to master throughout the years.Les Paul Lover wrote:

I picked up a DSL100 for a silly cheap price and for what I paid it's great for some other tones and windmilling some chords
I plan on doing a duel video between it and the RV..., coming soon.

I use the Tech 22 Oxford pedal for almost ALL my rythym guitar recordings with recabinet IRs and its definitely NOT garbage high gain tones:
