Hi all,
Can I run 2 x PPC112 cabs from an RV100 without blowing them up? I haven't been into the tech side of amps for a long time and I forget if running 2 seperate cabs I double the wattage of each cab for a total.
Reason I want to run 2 x 112's is I've damaged my back and can no longer move my 212.
Cheers

health is most important! I would look at quilter tone block 200 and neodymium speakers like the tonkerliteTinCanJohnny wrote:Hi all,
I've got an RV100 mkII head running into a PPC212 cab. Love everything about it expect that it weighs as much as a small car* (may not actually weigh as much as a small car).
Unfortunately I've damaged my back and have been warned off lifting heavy objects (max. 20kg limit)- which includes my beloved cab (and the head as well, but trying to work around that).
I'm contemplating going back to 2 x PPC112 cabs. If I run these together, will they handle the power of the RV100? Obviously I can't run 1 due to the 60w speaker - and celestion don't make a 120 watt version. Or am I going to have to trade/sell the RV100 for an RV50 to be able to run a single 12"?
Cheers

Re: PPC212 to 2 x PPC112 switch
Depends how loud your playing. Unless your playing really loud thr 2 cabs will be fine - assuming your talking about V30s in each and not g12h s. If you want to be totally safe you could look at changing the speakers to even higher power handling.TinCanJohnny wrote:Hi all,

Re: PPC212 to 2 x PPC112 switch
2 PPC112 with Celestion V30 are totally fine with the RV100.
You have 120w of speakers there, exactly the same as for a PPC212 with 2 Celestion V30.
Just remember to plug both 16 ohms cab from the 2 8 ohms tap. Yeah, save your back.
Running just 1 PPC112 cab isn't safe though.

Thanks for confirming Les Paul Lover. This is what I thought I remembered. Happy to do an extra trip on load in and out if it means I can keep the amp.

get a rocknroller cart or something on wheels too that is affordable where you are at, maybe a dolly
just to consider, neodymium speakers 12" are 5 pounds each
you could get a 212 cab like this that weighs 28 pounds: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Seismic-Audio-2 ... Swd0BV1MR0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: PPC212 to 2 x PPC112 switch
Thanks all for the replies. Currently investigating various options. Thankfully I'm not in too much of a hurry to do anything.
Re: PPC212 to 2 x PPC112 switch
cool man, just remember nothing sounds like anything else. two 112s are not gonna sound like a 212 cause there is more air in the cab...depending on your weight limit you might wanna just get a modeler and go direct, then buy a lightweight PA system. a cover band would love that as opposed to a monster full stack!
