A while back I got a Rockerverb 50 2x12 combo in an attempt to simplify my rig and fell in love with the sound, but didn't get quite enough volume out of it, so I sold it to a friend and bought the 100w head. For a while I had it in my Rectifier 2x12 cab, but it never quite sounded right, so I saved up and got the PPC212OB. There was all the magic back I was missing!
Fast forward a bit and, as is usually the case, I am back to trying to decide if my Roadster or Rockerverb should be my gigging amp. It's kind of an impossible choice, but I thought I'd go back to using the Roadster. Thing is, it never quite cleans up how I want, doesn't have the low end I'm expecting... that is, until I plugged it in to the PPC212OB. Now the tone is perfectly balanced. No more harsh highs, a nice, big bottom end, just the right amount of mids, and still tight enough to chug on. This can is magic. If you've never tried one, do yourself a favor and plug in. It's the best.

Yep its good, build like a tank, sounds good and just light enough and sized right to be portable by one person. I'd certainly recommend one to anyone that owns an Orange amp.
Re: PPC212OB: best cab ever?
Best cab I've ever owned...that's why I've got 2 of the buggers now!
I've heard several heads tried with 'em (various oranges, a couple of Marshalls, a blackstar & a Hughes & Kettner) and they've never failed to deliver!
Absolutely fantastic bit of gear!

Fantastic cabs. Nice and chime-y but just the right amount of mid/bass punch too. Decent weight as well. I find I can carry the cab by one handle in one hand and my RV50 head on the other hand ha ha!

I've often wondered about having two 2x12's. Do you stack them?

I suppose you could. Personally unless you needed really major stage volumes I'd just use one, but I'd put it on it's side to stack the speakers vertically.studawson wrote:Fantastic cabs. Yeah, though mainly a bassist myself live I've always been well impressed with Orange 2x12s, not least the OB. Very good!

A really great cab! I also put it on it's side, speakers verticle, to hear more treble rehearsing close to the amp.

Awesome cab. On a side note, the Marshall 1960AX and the 1960AHW rank very high on my list.

I have also found that it sounds even better now that its breaking in some.
Re: PPC212OB: best cab ever?
Orange cabs are fantastic, the best I have used thus far for 112s and 212s... I have not had a chance to play a 412 yet.

Re: PPC212OB: best cab ever?
I stack them most of the time as that's all the size of the stage will allow but if I'm able to I stand them on an end and put them next to each other (like a traditional 4 x 12 basically)studawson wrote:Fantastic cabs. There's no real difference in volume but the sound is much much bigger!

Re: PPC212OB: best cab ever?
+1 to all this. Originally had the PPC212CB but it was such a bulky and heavy beast to lug around, so traded it for the OB and oh yeah, a very fine cab. Perfect size and weight, and a massive sound with my R30 head, and sounds better and better the more I hammer those V30s. Congrats on the purchase!.....a very wise one in my humble onion!
