New NAMM Gear

Post by markjazzbassist » Thu Jan 21, 2016 5:00 pm

O Bass, OB1-300 Combo, 4 Stroke Bass Head, 2 Stroke Pedal, ABY Pedal, Tiny Terror 10th Anniversary Edition w/ 2x10 Cab, and headphones

as a bassist i approve. OB combo is cool, 4 stroke head is a very cool concept (and not too heavy) and the O Bass is nice.

That two stroke sounds GREEAAT. Loved the singles to humbucker and humbucker to singles use in the demo. There's not enough woody tone in modern amps.

Nah its a bass, it'll be down there. Actually if it is nice and cheap (which I'm hoping) I may well grab one for jam sessions etc. Always fancied an orange (coloured) bass.

All the gear looks well cool this year. Indeed a good year for us bassists! 8)

neato pedals.

Been a huge fan of parametric EQ for some time, and that video shows one of the reasons why.. I have the Empress para EQ (3 bands) but at the right price that two stroke can find a place on my board!.

Why does the Two-Stroke pedal have to look like it was made by McDonald's instead of Orange?

The O-Bass looks great and the position of the pickup seems like a great idea for people like me who like the P-Bass but prefer darker midrangey bass tones. The scratch plate is perfect - the design is an instant Classic as far as I'm concerned. We'll see what they cost and how they sell.

a bit disappointed...2 pedals, bass...headphones... Orange now proposes pretty conventional products (made in Far East plants like others and that will probably be too pricy)

Where is the originality ? :( :( I was expecting some more exciting and pioneer products such as >20 W hybrid amps

I can understand the pedals. They still have this Orange spirit, but not too keen on the headphone, bass, etc.
Marshall went even further with the fridge, beer, mp3 amp and so on.. are they still making amps?

I have a couple of big Valvestate hybrid amps from two decades ago that you can borrow. I wouldn't consider it to be original or pioneering at all for Orange to follow in the footsteps of M*rshall and Vox by making more hybrids unless there is something radically different about them. I suppose that a 100+ watt hybrid in a Dual Terror enclosure would be interesting to look at though.

it was only an example and I know that hybrid amps have been previously released by other concurrents.
What I meant is that I was much more excited when Orange launched new lunchbox-sized hybrid/valve heads (TT, DT, MT, MD,...) or s-s CR series. :D :D
