The new one has the same issues; scratchy presence pot and a nonplayable treble channel. Maybe I go for a JTM45 or a 1959 instead. Just need to play them first.

It will void the warranty, but clip the bright cap off of the treble channel. I did this with mine and it made it sound much better. It's a worthwhile mod.

I am surprised to hear what is going on. I have not played any new production Marshalls but I did a project years ago gutting a JTM reissue and redoing it. Fun project and got me going into amp building. If the circuit is right, then it must be a component issue. Hand wired boards are easier to fix and trouble shoot.

I love my JTM45 scratch build as it has been a keeper for a long while..Great cleans up through ACDC style grit. Can't go wrong with JTM45. You can always tweak the circuit if needed.
