Yes, its a Marshall....

2009 2266 Marshall Vintage Modern in black... shown with the PPC212 and LP.

This amp is "different" ..
Only available for about 3 years, the idea was a (vintage) jtm 45 (ish) amo with (modern) features like a volume knob, fx loop and reverb.
Dunno why it was discontinued but i guess it wasnt popular at the time due to the way you control two input gains for body (aka low) and detail (aka high)..in exactly the same way you did with a jumpered input jtm45.

anyway, single channel, pretty much like a jtm45 with MV and an fx loop, then has switchable gain boost (called high dynamic range).. and a mid boost.. i guess that makes it a pretty simple amp for a marshall!

in normal (low dynamic range) mode the dynamics of this are really good - strikingly similar to the way the Rocker 30 dirty channel responds to gtr volume and pick attack

made in the UK and reasonably priced on the used market... i suspect its a keeper.

Excellent amp, great soundings ....if I was to buy a Marshall the vintage modern would be on the top of my list.

Is it the black colour that was only made short term? They are normally a dark purple but have been made for quite a number of years its meant for player's who like using guitar volume controls! Just like the old day's.

Lovely looking LP as well....enjoy!

I've tried one a while back and remember being simultaneously impressed with it whilst realising I wouldn't use it.

Still, I keep my eyes out for a 50w model. I might own one one day, as there's nothing quite like having it at home to see if it can work for you. It really is an excellent amp.

Nice! Congrats.

I purchased a VM 2266 combo about a month a go, which has been in the amp tech for an overall revision and tube swaps (they had a hard time finding a pair of KT66s here in Brazil). Got it today, can´t wait to get home and try it properly. The only thing I am concerned about it is that it may not be as loud as I would think (my impression, from playing briefly in the amp tech's shop was that my Rocker 30 seemed way louder).

Cheers!

The 2266 is 50w peak and 35 watts clean. The Rocker 30 would most likely seem louder.

I own the 2466 and, whilst it is a great sounding amp, my FX loop has never properly worked. I suspect it is a mosfet however the part Marshall uses (which is notorious for blowing) is nigh on impossible to source.

I have always wanted to acquire a vintage modern, I love the look and features. I see some occasionally pop up on local clist for ridiculous low prices, like a head between 6-700 dollars. I am really curious about this KT66 thing, as all I've heard in Marshalls are 6L6 and EL34

Never played a vintage modern, but played and built many Marshalls. KT66 JTM45 sounds killer clean to crunch. This clip will give you and idea. EL34 with diode rectifier super leads hav a different feel and sound. To get an idea, you really need to play them. I love my JTM45 and my JCM800. Need to check out a vintage modern.
