So you think Im safe running the PPC212? I got to crank it up today and BOY WAS I WRONG! This thing is LOUD!
I might need to get an attenuator to subdue this beast. any cheap suggestions? like the Jettenuator? The hotplate is a little too expensive for me.
Personally, I don't trust attenuators. They tend to blow output transformers. And a cheap attenuator - so much the worse.

Yeah, I don't think Orange would have sold OR120 and OTR120 combos with a pair of V30s (the speakers that are most likely in your PPC212) if they weren't. Besides, it sounded GOOD, didn't it?

Hasn't been rotated since zero is exactly where you think it would be...
Mine are like that aswell.
So both your amps actually do go to 11???????

congrats, that looks like a very nice find!!!!!
I'd love to hear one of those, and see how comparable they are to the newer OR50 or OR100.

Now, I have a new question.

In the Orange field guide it says that the OTR is fixed bias.
Ive only had cathode biased amps before this but its my understanding that I can swap the preamp tubes without biasing, right?
Its only the power amp tubes that need biasing?

Im still honeymooning the crap out of this amp btw!

just saw this on Reverb.

Would you say this is a good indication for the value of my amp?

Not sure of the exact Orange exchange rate between Australia and Norway myself. Or is it 1:1?

Well, things like old Oranges and Hiwatts aren't nearly as rare or expensive in Britain as they are in the US say. So they go for a lot more in some countries than others. How vintage (or even new!) prices in one country relate to another isn't always just as simple as converting the currencies...

Oh, right! Yeah I get that. A OTR80 popped up on the norwegian kind of "ebay" for about $1400 a couple of days ago, so I'll keep watch on that and see if it goes for that price.

I've now found 3 OTR's in Norway. Mine, the one for sale and one being used by a norwgian band called The Good The Bad And The Zugly.

Does anybody know how many were made?

It's a good indication of what that particular seller thinks his amp is worth. If it sells for that price, you might have a little more certainty. Also, that could be a retail value if the seller is a shop, so attaching an accurate private party value to your amp is not a terribly precise science.

A combo of this model isn't selling at a bid price of £570 in the UK (ebay).

Price variations are pretty big..... To Most people, these amps are too loud. I wish I could try one to make my mind up!!!!
