OR15 and maxon od808=modernish metal?

Hey guys, question for you OR15 owners. can an overdrive like a maxon od808 be used to tighten up the or15 and make it sound a little more modern? without a pedal the amp has a pretty old school drive sound (which I really like) but sometimes I want a more modern, tightened voicing for playing sylosis songs. I don't have the opportunity to try one with my or15 unfortunately so just wondering if any of you or15 owners like to slam an overdrive in the front or just rely the amps crazy gain.

Thanks

Can't say for sure with the OR15, but that maxon is quite widely used in the metal world, with low gain setting to tighten things up. More for tone shaping than actual dirt.

Thanks that's how I planned on using it. The or15 has loads of gain so u don't need more. I just wanna get it into more modern territory if that makes sense

Should work OK - I used to have an OD808... worked fine for liquid lead sounds: will take you anywhere from lighter-waving light solos to heavier sounds if you layer it the right way.

I actually recorded a quick video the other day switching through a few of my pedals. An eq can really open up different tones with the OR15.
