Are you in the UK? Gordon Smith make some excellent one pickup Gibson LP junior / special esque guitars called the GS1 and all made in UK

Add the G&L fallout to your list..

I have two.. i bought a tribute model for $400 and after a week was so impressed i ordered a USA one.. was it worth the difference?.. umm to be honest not really as the tribute is so well made and they sound very close... but the USA model does ooze quality.

You get a humbucker in the bridge and p90 in the neck, in a body slightly smaller than a Strat (though same weight).. retro styling and lots of mojo..

P90 + split humbucker... 1x tone 1x vol - and a massive sonic palette - please try one! Get a Tribute and spend the change on a good set up and all the other 'bits' you need and you'll still have enough left over for a pint or two...

They are very good guitars, best value electrics on the planet IMO. Real no frills but high quality players guitars. My Graduate 60 Slimline is basically a thinner LP-a-like with some neat improvements over the original. As with all GS guitars the set up was and has always remained first rate. They use quality stable woods you see, not stuff force dried out in mere months or less.

My mates SG is also THE most resonant electric I have ever played. That in front of a decent amp at decent (not extreme) volumes is as responsive an electric guitar as you'll ever get. But that is pretty typical for GS, not the exception.

Best of all the second hand prices are ridiculously low. Not collectors pieces see, just honest high quality working guitars.
