Hi, I have a little gretsch G5222 amp (basically a fender champ 600. Just noticed a blue flash when I play a note hard. Try to capture it in these videos for you too see. Do you think my valve is going to die soon? They are stock valves and don't sound to bad to me.
any ideas? Cheers.
if I had better lighting you wouldn't see the flash.

Don't worry about it, just a little phosphorescence. It'll die when it is good and ready to!

I don't think blue flashes mean much. In the dark, I've seen them in every tube amp I've ever owned.

Blue glows, I love them. Saw a s/h music shop owner arriving back at base with a dusty old Fender Super Six Reverb (!) he'd just found. When he fired it up -as you do - well it worked, and the glows from all of the valves were wonderful - truly hypnotic. And that wasn't even in the dark!
Knowing him he probably got the whole amp for less than the valves were worth. Bet it sounded even more amazing after they cleared out all the cobwebs too...
Beautiful amp that, but I'd hate to have to carry it too far.
Andy.
