New cabs day - week long project
I decided that I needed a couple of 10" speaker options for cabs in orange tolex to pair up with my Tiny Terrors. I currently have a black 2x10, which got the job done but it wasn't a great cab so I decided to build a 1x10 (didn't have one but wanted one) and a 2x10 cab, both in orange.
The 1x10 is the exact same dimensions of my TT10 combo so I get a pretty cool mini-stack but it's also light enough I can take it to practice with my Micro Terror with little effort.
The 2x10 cab is the same width as the PPC112 so if I wanted to I could do a 112/210 stack with my TT head. It had to be taller because of the layout but I think it will work out great.
Both are dovetail joined but I only used 1/2" furniture grade ply to keep them light. I also decided to make them both closed back just so I can see how the Eminence Ramrods respond. I might like it more or I may change it as I have plenty of tolex left over.
And of course, pics.

Re: New cabs day - week long project
Thanks for all the great compliments. I'm really happy with the way they turned out, especially the front corners. Those took quite a bit of patience. The only thing I'm missing is the black piping but since it's only 1/2" ply I could risk the structure with a groove.
I was able to play them a bit today. They sound great too!

Those look freaking great. I especially like the TT atop the 2x10 cab. It's the perfect size.

Hell Andy, I forgot until today but I have you to thank for the 1x10 cab.a.hun wrote:Wow, great job!!!

As everyone's read I'm sure up to this point that the Eminence Ramrod is my favorite speaker for the TT. I'd even put it against a 12" speaker for how big they sound. BUT they only make an 8 ohm Ramrod. So it's kind of hard to have two individual cabs with 8 ohm drivers without some inventive wiring.
...until Andy made mention of making a "series" box. Effectively having an small plastic enclosure input jack with two speaker jacks that wires your standard speaker cables. I can still use all of my regular 1/4" speaker cables as well as the normal combo speaker jack.
So thanks Andy!

No way could I have built those myself though - my woodworking skills were never that good.

Would you mind if I ask some "technical" questions. If It's not appropriate, feel free to bash me.
How to you process for the dovetail? Are you using a router with a dovetail template?

I was wondering how you did the dovetail thingy too, it's notoriously hard for DIYer to get it right.
Those cabs looks absolutely great!!! Very nice work!!!!!!

Well I've always done dovetail with a manual japanese saw, and I'm thinking about the router/template solution for a while, so as we have there an advanced woodworker, his opinion will certainly help!Les Paul Lover wrote:I was wondering how you did the dovetail thingy too, it's notoriously hard for DIYer to get it right.
