which pedal reverb?

which pedal reverb?
Hi guys,
new question for the orange community. A problem that a lot of us have, I think.
My Dual terror doesn't have integrated reverb. So I'd like to buy a good reverb pedal, but DT30H doesn't have send/return too!!
Which good pedal can I buy, running it in input signal? Between guitar and head without having some "badsounds" problems?
Thanks a lot!

Re: which pedal reverb?
Alot of people seem to like the Holy Grail through the front. I have a Hardwire Supernatural that sounds amazing, but I use an effects loop. I think a plate reverb sounds best in front of an amp.
Re: which pedal reverb?
Thank Jondog,
exactly, what do you mean when you write "plate" reverb?

Re: which pedal reverb?
Do you want reverb for clean(ish) sounds only or with overdrive / distortion too?
If clean(ish) only than before the amp is fine and you don't need to worry about no daft FX loop thingy. If for drive sounds than you really do want to run reverb after your distortion. So either in a loop or after a drive pedal. To be honest though I'd hardly ever use reverb with anything above light crunch levels of gain myself. Things just get too indistinct. And adding more than a shade of reverb live is almost always a mistake (unless playing outdoors) as you'll get natural room reverb anyway.
Short delay settings can give much the same sort of effect as reverb but without such big problems with distortion sounds. (Just a thought! )
Personally I'm very happy with my tragically non booteek EH HG+ (Holy Grail Plus). I've compared it many times with my real (well, real reissue ) Fender valve spring tank and the sound quality is very close, to small to worry me at all. Plenty of other good choices out there as well though.

Re: which pedal reverb?
I would a reverb for little crunchy sounds on tiny channel with a good distortion on my fat channel!
So, EHX HG could be a good reverb?

Re: which pedal reverb?
I like the craziness you can get by putting a reverb pedal in front of the amp BUT, if you like to keep it a bit more subtle, I have good experience from using a Digitech Digiverb in front of both my Micro Terror and other amps. Just play around with the mix knob as well as the type of reverb.

Strymon Flint if you want classic verbs. Or the Bluesky if you want something a bit more modern.

Re: which pedal reverb?
My favorite reverb pedal - hands down. Because you can kick it around.

Btw, how are you putting a plate reverb into your amp, do you haul your rig around on a flatbed truck? I've never seen a plate reverb that wasn't a two man lift at the very least.

Re: which pedal reverb?
I had great lucky running one of the original Holy Grail Reverb pedals into the front of my amp. It was nice because it had three different reverb types and they blended naturally with the dirty amp tone of my Orange.
However, I now use Death By Audio's Reverb pedal. It's much more dirty sounding of a reverb and can get some killer ambient noise and feedback going... great for the noisy garage rock-type music I play

Re: which pedal reverb?
They are great. Wouldn't mind one myself too. Real spring in it too, yeah? Or was that BS?Gladmarr wrote:My favorite reverb pedal - hands down. Because you can kick it around.

The Fender tank through a live amp just causes pain and howls of complaint when you kick it. So... I don't kick it!
The reel echo is fun too, though I really swear by my old DE1 Dan Echo delay which does from hi-fi repeats to warm lo-fi tape style repeats. Cool as you like.
Yeah I though Jondog was talking digital 'plates'. The real things get a bit bulky. Many studios built them into their own room.
If you go 'Holy Grail' I'd definitely recommend the 'Plus' version over the straight basic HG pedal. More control (but not too much), and AFAIK none of the noise issues some complain of with the original. Works great with all of my own amps anyway.

Re: which pedal reverb?
And if you have a chance at an electro harmonix Holiest Grail, pass it by. It's a terrible reverb pedal. Not worth it at all!
