Best, worst pickups to pair with a Rockerverb
I've had my Rockerverb 100 for close to six months now. I just recently made the decision to swap out the pickups in my Les Paul (DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge, Humbucker from Hell in the neck) because I felt they weren't really getting along with the Rockerverb. Has anyone else had this kind of issue come up? To my ears, the Super Distortion (pretty much a tonal sledgehammer with a strong low end) wasn't the right pickup for a thick-sounding amp like the Rockerverb.

I'm a big fan of more vintage pickups with Oranges.
Maybe check out the 57/57+ set or if you want a more boutique version the BKP Blackdog bridge and and Unpotted Mule in the neck are fairly great for LP guitars and Oranges.

I'll have to check those out. I went with a Seymour Duncan Custom (which hovers somewhere between medium and hot output) and a '59, and those pickups sound really, really good through the Rockerverb.

I have a Gibson Firebird with minihumbuckers- think PAFs with lower output. Sounds superb through my Oranges. Now, on the other hand of the spectrum I also have a Charvel fitted with a Duncan Black Winter. That also sounds fantastic.
I guess it's just up to personal preference- For me it has a lot more to do with the voicing and EQ of a pickup than the output.

IME humbuckers can get pretty muddy with the RV series. I had good luck with p90's,

Depends on what u play and where the gain is set maybe? Have u just tried lowering the gain and raising the volume? ... But in any case the 57 and 57+ sound really good with a Les paul and the Rv , more vintage and classic and cleans also really nice.

I completely agree that the EQ plays a larger role in how a pickup jells with a particular amplifier. And yeah, I've pulled the gain down a tad while raising the overall master (when I can get away with it at a show, which is seldom), and that also sounds great.

I like a lot of pickups with Orange. Active super high output ones are the tones I'm not generally a fan of. These amps have so much gain on tap, you can achieve so many more shades with low output, high treble ended pickups like Lindy Fralins and Texas Specials. The Gibson mini humbuckers sound killer through the OR100.

I really like my SG's equipped with 498/490 though my Rockerverb stack. I think it's a really good match as they, of course together with the thin mahogny body of the SG's, helps to bring out that great middle tone. I also find that my Telecasters (one with p90's the other one with wide range humbuckers) sounds really nice played through my RV, in another way though
