Just posted this "New Marshall on its way to being quite possibly the best Marshall I've ever heard. iiii]; )'"
I must admit, aside from the SL5, his Sig. Marshalls are pretty badass.

Re: Slash
A little on the pricey side, and smothered in Slashiness, but yeah. They're decent amps.
Some of the only Marshalls I've ever been able to get along with, actually, aside from the old JTMs

Re: Slash amp comment
I love em. Used to be my main gigging amp for quite some time just because I was never really satisfied with tweaking the cumbersome Mesa Boogie. Marshall all the way from jangly cleans up to those bright uber-hotrodded JCM800 searing leads.
My favorite lead amp of all time, hands down, bar none, word up.
Preamp 12:00, Lead 7:00, Master 7:00, Treble 2:00, Middle 3:30, Bass 7:00, Presence 2:00
Throw a single EVH style studio echo and some very subtle chorus on it, then plug a Les Paul in and play any eighties hard rock solo.
I'll always posit that no other amps sound as good with all knobs at 7:00 as a classic Marshall.

Re: Slash amp comment
i've had marshalls forever. i have at least one of each major design right now; several of many. over the years there's not one i haven't had.
i have 2 sl5's and they are the best marshall's, all things considered i've ever had. i'll go farther; the sl5 is probably the best amp period, "all things considered", that a guitarist can have.
what i mean is; i consider the sl5 to be the island amp. [if you were stranded on an island....yada...].
the other, equally placed amp would be the fuchs ods.
this, of course is my opinion and not a declaration. everyone has a pick.
caveat. i'm not a slash hater, nor fanboy. i do like him. the slash connection has nothing to do with my choices. they are some serious gear.
i buy playboys for the articles, too.
cheers,

I do like the SL5, tested one out not too long ago. I just didn't want to lump it in with Slash's 100 watters because they are pretty effing serious amps.sidvicious wrote:i've had marshalls forever. i have at least one of each major design right now; several of many. over the years there's not one i haven't had.

I'm a big fan of Slash's tonez (especially Use Your Illusion), so I take any amp that he plays seriously (even if that makes me some sort of consumerist lemming or whatever).
Also I don't buy Playboys, but if I did, I would probably use them to masturbate moreso than for the articles.

Re: Slash amp comment
Slash's tones are great. I love the tones i get from my JCM800 1x12. Model 4010. I have a slight mod to it, i put in a switcher so it switches between the low input and the high input. There are dual concentric pots for preamp and master so i can set them independently and get a nice clean tone and rhythm/lead tone. Roll back the volume works very well so the amp is a rock machine. heritage G12-65 was the final magic piece. Killer amp

Whoops! How can that be when 7:00 is later (aka more than) than 5:00?!

Re: Slash amp comment
Never tried them, but I'm sure they are very good amps...
The only difficulty I have with Marshall, is that I find they sound way too 80s. The last amp I tried from th, the vintage modern, sounded great..... Brilliant for that GnR sound but I couldn't play one and make my music with them seriously...
But that's just my opinion. So many people make them sound great, just not for me.
