OR100 GAIN BOOST "ALWAYS ON" MOD
Hi, I recently purchased an OR100 and I'm totally in love with it. Apparently the OR100 (after saw the schematic) is a kind of RV100 and when you active the "gain boost", you have the same gain than the RV100.
I play in 2 band, one where I play Stoner Rock and the amp is so perfect and an other where I play metal on 7 strings guitar, so I wanted to have the gain boost fonction always on, since have my footswith on my pedalboard. So I "create" this little trick, and it totally rocks.
I can give other informations if you want.

Hi play Orange amps into my stoner rock band: Deadly Vipers

That is brilliant! I'm guessing the guts are pretty simple, but the idea is awesome.

Do you have the Schmatic? Looks nice!
Re: OR100 GAIN BOOST "ALWAYS ON" MOD
All you need is a 5MM LED, and a 470 ohm resistor. Solder the tip connection of the jack to the resistor, the resistor to the anode (+) side of the LED, then the cathode (-) side of the LED to the sleeve connection of the jack.Jondog wrote:Do you have the Schmatic? Looks nice!
Same as the footswitch, just eliminate the switch from the circuit and you've got an always on "footswitch".
BAM!
That's really creative!

I'm very tempted to build one of these right now.
Orange Amps: OR100H, AD30HTC, CR60
Guitars: Gibson Firebird 2013, Obscure Epi Les Paul, Charvel 5FX 1987, LTD Horizon 1001
Non-Orange Amp: Marshall JCM2000

I don't want the plug...I want the schematicPhlowen wrote:All you need is a 5MM LED, and a 470 ohm resistor. Obviously this mod works also on the OR50, for a "master always bypassed". I need to make a patent for this things! Ahahah.

I've actually seen this somewhere else? Maybe even on this forum??
Re: OR100 GAIN BOOST "ALWAYS ON" MOD
It's two components...a 470 ohm resistor and a 5MM LED...I can draw you a squiggly line with a straight line connecting it to a triangle running into a (vertical) straight line with another horizontal straight line connecting it to a jack...Jondog wrote:I don't want the plug...I want the schematicPhlowen wrote:All you need is a 5MM LED, and a 470 ohm resistor. Re: OR100 GAIN BOOST "ALWAYS ON" MOD
Apparently we have a few OR100 users here. I'd like to ask a few questions if you don't mind.
1. how much louder does the global boost make the amp? Would it be enough of a solo boost when the dirty channel is set to distortion (think John Sykes with Whitesnake, Zakk Wyle with Ozzy etc.) I don't want to use the amp for that sound (I have an Engl Powerball 2 for that) but these are just examples of the amount of distortion for rhythm. Will the global boost be enough of a volume boost for solos to be heard in this setting?
2. If the global boost does not provide enough volume boost for solos, what do have in the effects loop to add a solo volume boost.
Thank you in advance, and that plug is a great idea too btw.!

Re: OR100 GAIN BOOST "ALWAYS ON" MOD
Oh... hahahahahaha! I'm often accused of being overly literal, and I guess this is case in point. It also reveals my arrogance that you could possibly be confused and want the schematic of a 2-3 component circuit. Hahaha, sorry about that!
Thanks for being cool about it!

Global boost add 3db on sound, perfect to be "up" on a mix.wbm wrote:Apparently we have a few OR100 users here. I'd like to ask a few questions if you don't mind.

Gain Boost give the same gain than the RV100

Thank you! Cool band btw. I looked at the video on your FB page. Do you use the OR50 live too? If yes, how to you get solo volume boosts on that one please?
