I will do anything for love Randy, but I won't do that
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy
Re: RUSH?!?
Well, not being contrary, but 70's Rush used to make me vomit, would rather eat my own eyeballs while still in my head...
Come the 80's that everyone rags and I thought they were amazing, Power Windows is one of my favourite albums ever,
Geddy's voice dropped a bit and technology caught up with them and even the 70's stuff started sounding good by the 90's.
Great band but like all bands.... Not for everyone!

I respect them more than I love them.
They were great live, but I went there to see the opening band, primus.

Rush are awesome but like most prig bands you have to sift through the crap.
2112 and signals are amazing but 'roll the bones' with the gay rap in the middle make me wanna do a ryu fireball at the stereo

Being a fan since a friend introduced them to me in 1975 and playing some of their music. I rate Rush as within the top 10 Hard Rock bands of the '70's with an everlasting uniqueness!
Re: RUSH?!?
Rush is the ultimate example of a band that I want to like but could never get into for some reason. I'm sure it's a shortcoming on my part not theirs. They are speculator musicians. For pure musicianship they are clearly one of the best of all time. Plus they seem like good sports and nice guys. They were very funny when they were on the Colbert Report. I seem to like everything about them except their actual music. I just doesn't speak to me for some reason.

Re: RUSH?!?
I think it is the lyrics and the vocals. While the lyrics are interesting and Lee's chops are solid, they just seem like they should be dressed in Medevil garb and rock in front of a mini stone henge. Something sort of goofy. I think they could have benefited from a different vocalist as the music is killer.JRogero wrote:Rush is the ultimate example of a band that I want to like but could never get into for some reason. Re: RUSH?!?
If they had a "normal" rock vocalist and "normal" lyrics, I think they would have had more success due to their great musicianship, but I suppose that would have made them less special to the fans they have attracted. I don't think it is coincidental that I like their first album - without Neil Peart - the best, even though he is a ridiculously good drummer. His brain is too big to just straight-up rock-out, whether it's the overkill lyrics or the overkill drumming.

If one wants to see RUSH live and as well listen to nostalgia this will presumably be their last tour for quite some time and maybe forever. It's said they will be playing a time clock of music!
