Dual amp setup? Only cool in my head?
So I have an ad30 head which I love. There's a guy selling a 65' deluxe reverb head in my area. I am debating getting it because in my head it sounds awesome to play at the same time as my ad30 for gigs and such to fill out the sound even more and add some reverb ala the black keys and other such sounding bands. I am in a three piece group and we play originals along the lines of wolfmother/sabbath/black keys vibe. Who has tried a similair setup? am i just being ridiculous? I am very happy now with the way it sounds but yeah. Let me know what you think.

I do love me the Deluxe Reverb.
I reckon running the Deluxe for cleans and slight breakup and then the Orange for more overdrive and gainier tones would be pretty cool.
Although running a bi-amp setup is a real pain in the butt if it isn't a necessity of your sound.

I think it would be awesome!!
I dont know how reliable this pedal is but it proports to easily have:
RADIAL ENGINEERING TONEBONE HEADBONE TS
The Radial Headbone TS is an advanced 'head switching device' that allows two different guitar amplifier heads to be used with a single speaker cabinet.

A deluxe reverb is an amp I long for. If the price is good, I'd go for it if you can afford it, bi amping or not.
It's such a different amp to the AD30 I'm sure it'll inspire you to play different and new things!

Re: Dual amp setup? Only cool in my head?
I'd say if you were thinking of bi-amping having a dedicated clean and dedicated dirt platform would be the way to go. It can fill out the sound nicely if you're willing to bring it all to a gig. For a 3 piece I would consider the same set up honestly, but that's more to mask my lack of skill.
I used to run an Egnator Rebel 20 along with my Tiny Terror. Lots of fun.
The hardest part about it though was getting great settings on my pedals for both rigs. Optimal is usually a single platform setup. Looking back though I would have been better off splitting the signal off to the Egnater much earlier in my pedal signal chain and just let it cover a fat clean tone throughout whatever I was playing.

Bi-amping any combination of amps can be awesome in my opinion, well... given that they wouldn't be the same amps at the same settings. But yeah, American + British voicings are great together.
Re: Dual amp setup? Only cool in my head?
I was thinking I would go guitar>split >wah, microsynth, boost into ad30 and then dd7 into fender and then decide which amp sounded cooler with the vortex flanger. Also, the only cabs I have are 16 ohm so probably just detach the v30 in my orange and only connect the g12h30 for the fender. I would have both amps on most of the time I think except for some clean parts or something. How would the stereo outs on the dd7 or the tc flanger compare to the tonebone or a similair pedal?
Re: Dual amp setup? Only cool in my head?
I ran a stereo setup for years and in the end, I decided it was a pain in the ass for very little payback.

that is good for my wallet to hear haha I just watched some video of us playing live and decided I sound pretty cool already so I am leaning towards not getting it.Spaceboy1 wrote:I ran a stereo setup for years and in the end, I decided it was a pain in the ass for very little payback.

Re: Dual amp setup? Only cool in my head?
I often run my TH100 and Silverface Twin Reverb together. They're a match made in heaven. The Orange accentuates the mids and the Fender fills out the lows and highs.
If you proceed I'd suggest getting a cab for the Deluxe as opposed to sharing one with the AD30. Then use a Lehle Little Dual to switch between them or use them both simultaneously.
It's a lot of gear to be hauling around, however I don't play out with my dual amp rig. Namely because my back doesn't approve.

I like Bi-Amping. I like to have one with a Volume Pedal , and roll it in for solos and back out otherwise.
And, this is a strange Post-Count.

I run my twin and rv50 mk2 in stereo. It's heavy, obnoxious, and self indulgent, but wow I love it so.
The black face does its thing while the Orange growls out the mids. It is the most kick ass tone I've ever had.
We play maybe once a month, so the hassle is no big deal.
If we played out every week, my back would never forgive me.
If we were a real working band, I'd find a much easier set up.

I found it works great with opposite tones. Like I'll have my AD30 set very warm on the bottom, then or80 very chimey on top and you can really feel the whole spectrum that way! One of my favorite combos was tiny terror+ac30.
When I did Tiny terror and ad30 I felt like it wasn't really worth it.

Re: Dual amp setup? Only cool in my head?
using two amps at once: I think it would get mushy in the mix, I mean the two amps are close together and both mic'd and both have similar frequencies that overlap and cause phasing issues
but many successfully do it! I saw The Cult a year and a half ago, and he was running like 6 amps and it sounded amazing!
prolly sounds as good as your soundboard guy tho
I mean, I saw another band do it and whoa sounded like pure horrible loud mush in a bad way; that was the band Zoroaster
