So you're getting a rockerverb....????
You little stasher you!!!
That angry / raw / punk vibe is exactly what turns me off about the R30.
Just in case you are keen on increasing your orange collection, the AD30 is probably more different than the oranges you have at the moment.
By the way, why did you play on before your Oranges?

Re: I'm selling my Rocker...
Well, I really don't know yet... As I said before a RV was the amp I wanted from the very beginning but didn't buy. When I played one side by side with my OR I really loved the tone. I think it's a good complement to the OR though they're not totally different beasts. I'm gonna get a PPC212 and figure out whether the OR or the RV will be hooked up to my two 412's. The other one will kick the pile of poop out of the 212...Les Paul Lover wrote:So you're getting a rockerverb....????

Before Orange I played a Blackstar HT-100 & a 412 and before that I had a rack based system with a Marshall JMP-1 preamp, a Kitty Hawk 2x60W valve power amp and lots of effects connected to a Rane SM-26 splitter/mixer and some in between. Cabs used were two Laney 412's in a stereo config. A couple of Marshall combos have also been there during the decades...
And it's never too late for an AD30 btw...

Re: I'm selling my Rocker...
So you are planning to get a Rockerverb after selling the R30? I went the opposite way, and got rid of my RV100 to fund a R30C. There is something very special about the R30 compared to its bigger brothers/sisters. That being said, The R30C at lower volumes does make me a little sad. It really has to be wound up to sound great, where as the head version seems to play nice at all volumes. Originally I wanted to swap the RV100 for an AD30. I have always wanted to get one, but they are quite rare around these parts. I have seen the head version in a shop once since I moved here 10 years ago. It goes the same with the used market. There are a few RV100 amps that are for sale, but the prices are so close to retail that they will never sell. It is extremely rare for a R30 or a AD30TC to pop up, and if one does come around here they are typically beat to h311. These days I can't see myself spending that much money on an amp. It makes me sick to think of how much money I spend on my original half stack, and will never do it again. At the end of the day most of us use so many pedals that all of our amps sound the same.
"Hey, checkout my new Orange Rockerverb 100, it was like twenty million dollars".
"Cool! now lets hear that distortion pedal".
D:
My biggest concern in your situation is future re-sale value. If you go spend a small fortune on an RV100 you will lose money (unless we are talking used here). I have found out the hard way over the past few years that Orange amps do not hold their value. Even the vintage ones go for fairly reasonable prices. Being Orange amp lovers I think that we tell ourselves that these amps are priceless and don't realize their true value. At this time a R30 used is pretty damn close to what it was worth new. It is not uncommon around here however, for a Rockerverb to go for 50% (or more) under retail.
But in the end it is all up to you. If you have the cash, and the itch, and don't use the amp, might as well move on. If it were me, I would sell the OR15 mini stack as it would be a pain to take to a gig, not to mention the fact that your OR100 can be switched down to 15 watts, so I'm guessing you can get the OR15 sound out of the OR100.

Re: I'm selling my Rocker...
Well, I don't spend cash (on guitar stuff) that I need for other things and my economy is quite solid so I feel rather satisfied with my financial situation. And I'm totally aware of the fact that buying new stuff is a bad investement... I just buy gear that I like and that give me pleasure in my playing and don't think about what will happen when I sell it. Right now I'm into building up an arsenal of really good gear that will last long. I've played SO many amps during the years and the Oranges are the first ones that did catch "the sound in my head".Boy_Narf wrote:But in the end it is all up to you. Maybe the OR15 isn't a "keeper" but right now I use it a lot. The OR100 can be switched down to 30 watts so the OR15 fills the gap down to 7W. I also like to have one cab config for each amp (don't like swapping cables all the time). So a RV or a DD connected to a 212 is the next step in moving towards that dream amp setup...

All I can say is this: if you own a Rocker 30, don't sell it. You own one of the greatest amps ever created and at some point later in life you will find a use for it.
For the love of all that is holy, don't sell your Rocker 30s.

YOUR SIGNATURE!!! IT'S OUTDATED!
I'm quite intrigued by these CR amps now. I see quite a few people praising them, saying how they sound just as good as a tube amp. I might have to check out a CR60C.

Re: I'm selling my Rocker...
Makes sense, there's little point stock piling amps that overlap quite a bit. Sure the rocker has that unique raw tone, but you already have plenty orangeness covered.
So, what are you getting next?

Regarding the CR, it IS good but not as good as a good tube amp. As a live amp it's perfect though; versatile, light weight and reliable. And for home practicing it sounds awesome even at bedroom levels. The clean channel is quite impressive. With my Tele, a MXR Custom Comp in front and an EHX Memory Boy in the loop it sounds fantastic! I really appreciate my CR120.

An OR50, RV50 or perhaps an AD30 paired with a 212. Maybe I sell the OR15 as well. And I miss my Vox AC15. I'll probably end up buying an AC30 too. And a LP Custom.Les Paul Lover wrote:So, what are you getting next?
